About the event
The Johnny Kinney Memorial Foundation was created to honor the life, strength, and extraordinary spirit of Johnny Kinney by ensuring that the love he left behind continues to bring hope to others. Our mission is to ensure that no child or family facing a pediatric cancer or disease diagnosis has to walk that journey alone.
With the support of our incredible community, we provide financial assistance to help ease the burden of medical expenses and everyday costs, deliver comfort and thoughtful gifts to children in treatment, bring joy and encouragement to the patients of the Valerie Fund Children’s Center throughout the year, and keep Johnny's Closet at Goryeb Children's Hospital fully stocked with clothing, blankets, comfort items, and everyday essentials that are completely free to every patient and family who needs them. We are also proud to award scholarships each year to two graduating seniors from Hanover Park High School who embody the kindness, resilience, grit, and compassionate spirit that Johnny shared with everyone he met.
Our Tricky Tray is the foundation's only fundraising event of the year, and its success makes all of this possible. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every act of generosity helps ensure that Johnny's legacy lives on, bringing comfort, hope, and love to children and families during life's most difficult moments, one child, one family, and one act of kindness at a time.
